Start Today

It’s two more days until the new year. There is one more week of vacation.

But that’s not going to stop me. I’m starting today.

I actually started last night, by having a goal to get up, exercise, and read God’s word.

I took action. I got my exercise clothes ready, went to bed at a decent time, and got up with my alarm this morning.

Today, I was done with all the important things and ready to start the rest of my day by 7:30 and it felt great. I was awake before the kids and had accomplished things that I have put to the wayside for way too long.

I have goals for this week of “vacation” too. I’m taking these open days to go through each room of the house and reorganize, declutter, and clean. I’ve already started in the kitchen.

I’m also going to take some time to reassess my life plan using Michael Hyatt’s free ebook, Creating Your Personal Life Plan. If you’re looking for something to help you achieve what you want, by assessing where you are and where you want to be, I recommend taking some time to read this short ebook, and making your plan. It’s great at helping you make your plan but also gives you steps to keep on track.

I’m also going to take some time this week spending time with family and friends and relaxing, by knitting and reading The Book Thief.

Well, that feels like a full schedule, so I’m going to make a time map on my iCal, hoping that will help me stay on track.

What are you going to start today?

My goal for the new year is to narrow my goals so that I can stay focused on them and less scattered.

I started today by writing out my to-do list for the day, which I don’t often do. I also moved from the living room to my desk earlier in the day, because I know I remain more focused on my work there.

So my word for the new year is ‘focus.’ I’m trying to sharpen my focus. You may be seeing that word on my blog frequently this year – IF, I can stay focused!
